Takoma Park's most well-known and beloved community tradition is planned, directed, and financed by the efforts of the all-volunteer Takoma Park Independence Day Committee (TPIDC). TPIDC is a small group of volunteers who work hundreds of hours each year to make the celebration a success. While a City grant covers about 40% of the total cost of the day's events, we rely on the support of our community to make up the shortfall.

Your financial support as a sponsor will ensure that our Independence Day tradition is preserved year after year, for our community's oldest and longest residents on down to its youngest and newest.

Please note that every penny raised is used to fund the 4th of July Celebration. Committee members and volunteers are not compensated for their work.

T-Shirts

T-shirts are $10 each, or 3 for $25, and are available in sizes from a Kids Medium through an Adult 2XL. Come to the TPIDC booth on the 4th to get your own.

CANCELLATIONS

If bad weather forces us to cancel the fireworks, we still have to pay for the unused fireworks, the pyrotechnician, the permit fees, and all the other non-refundable expenses, so please consider this the following year when we ask you to buy raffle tickets or make a donation. Likewise, if the parade is cancelled, the money spent on programs, mailings, signs, permits, stationery, etc. is money we cannot recover. We don't cancel either one unless we have no other choice.
